A fifth of the 20,500 pre-registered visitors to print show Ipex in May have said they plan to invest in packaging over the next year.
Ipex, which will run at the Birmingham NEC from 18-25 May, will overlap with packaging and processing show Total, which runs from 25-27 May. Visitors to Total will also be able to use their passes to enter Ipex on the 25 May.
Ipex director Trevor Crawford told Packaging News that Ipex could be interesting for both commercial as well as packaging printers.
Crawford said that commercial printers could find out about the opportunities in moving into packaging and vice versa. "I think from both ends there are opportunities to be had," he said.
Of those pre-registered to visit Ipex, 41% have indicated an interest in packaging, while 20% said they planned to invest in the packaging over the next 12 months.
Approximately 70 exhibitors at Ipex have indicated that they are involved in the packaging sector, some 12% of the total.
Nine companies will be exhibiting at both Ipex and Total. These include Domino, Erapa and Ambaflex Speciality Conveyors, amongst others.
Digital technology is set to dominate at Ipex 2010, where HP will be the largest exhibitor, followed by Heidelberg and Xerox. Digital will account for 38% of the 100,000sqm footprint of the show.
